MVG Returns to Blackpool

Michael van Gerwen returns to the Winter Gardens and will take on Brendan Dolan when he opens up his defence of the Phil Taylor Trophy.

MVG looking for his Fourth Matchplay title

This years Premier League winner will be looking to continue that form into Blackpool as he continues to close down on Michael Smith for the number one spot.

It’s been a difficult few weeks for Van Gerwen who is recovering from dental treatment but it didn’t stop The Green Machine performing in Poland with three ton plus averages.

World Champion Faces Fans Favourite

Michael Smith will be looking to make it a double in 2023 by adding the Matchplay to his World title. He will open up his tournament against Steve Beaton.

World Champion and World Number One will take part in the eighth of eight games on Super Sunday when he competes against the Bronzed Adonis who will be competing in his 22nd World Matchplay.

World Champion Smith will close out Super Sunday

Michael Smith will be looking to add his name to a short list of players who followed up their first World Championship title with the Matchplay title.

This will be a second meeting on this iconic stage with Steve Beaton defeating a young Michael Smith 11-7 back in 2016

Also on Sunday evening Nathan Aspinall will open up his campaign against Poland’s number one Krzysztof Ratajski, while Luke Humphries will be looking to start his charge for a first TV title when he faces Jose De Sousa to complete the Sunday evening session
