2023 World Series of Darts Finals – Night One

Former finalists Danny Noppert and Dirk van Duijvenbode collided on the opening night with both players averaging over 103 with Noppert coming out on top.

Noppert Wins The Dutch Battle

Danny Noppert defeated Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-4 in a high quality tie in Amsterdam.

Noppert opened up the game with a 14 dart hold, with Aubiergenius firing back with a 16 darter. Dirk had a break opportunity in the third missing a dart at double 18, with Noppert coming back and holding before only needing one opportunity himself in leg four to lead by two.

Dirk van Duijvenbode fired in 121 checkout to the delight of the Dutch crowd, with the run of breaks continuing with Noppert silencing the Dirk fans to make that three on the bounce with an 11 dart break, before Dirk made it four with a 12 darter to close the gap once more just to one leg.

The fans continued to make noise for their favourite and Dirk fired in a  77 checkout to level the game up. He missed a dart at tops to take the lead for the first time and once more Noppert stepped in once more to punished and sealed the win in the next leg,

Danny Noppert averaged 105.57 to win with the highest average of round one to set up a second round tie against newly crowned World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall.

The Barny Army Will Return On Saturday

Raymond van Barneveld received a fine reception as expected in Netherlands from the Barny Army, and he repaid with a 6-2 over Jeff Smith.

It was a slow start from Barny, but after he got a break in leg five you could only see one winner with Barny reeling in the next three legs, making it five on the spin and sealing the win with a double eight finish

Classy Clayton Too Good For Schindler

2021 World Series of Darts champion Jonny Clayton defeats Martin Schindler 6-3 to progress into the last eight.

The Ferret got a break in leg three, and continued in fine form throughout the game and his 75% was Clayton at his doubling best and he takes on Number One seed Rob Cross tomorrow evening.

Keegan Brown good week continued with a demolish job over Simon Whitlock, on the same day he put pen to paper on a deal with Red Dragon.

Keegan Brown punished an under par Simon Whitlock, with the Wizard only winning leg came in fourth, but with zero 180s and only one 140, The Wizard was constantly chasing and Keegan Brown sealed the win with ease and set up a second round tie against Gerwyn Price.

Elsewhere on Night One

Daniel Klose opened up the tournament with a fantastic 124 checkout in leg one, but that was as good as it got for Klose with Polish Number One Krzysztof Ratajski winning six of the last seven legs to make it a 6-3 win.

Puha progresses to Round Two.

Graham Usher struggled on debut losing 6-3 Haupai Puha, followed by William O’Connor putting in a finishing masterclass including a 125 starting on the outer bull to finish the game in style.

Damon Heta and Ricky Evans went head to head in the final game, with Rapid Ricky booking his place in the second round.
