2024 World Grand Prix Draw announced
World number one and defending World Grand Prix champion Luke Humphries will start the defence of his title against Masters champion Stephen Bunting.
Cool Hand won this event 12 months ago to capture his first major title, defeating Gerwyn Price in the final. Since then, Humphries has won five of the last seven ranked televised titles, including the World Championship and the World Matchplay.
Bunting however will be looking to beat Humphries like he did at The Masters in February, as he won their round two clash before going onto lift the trophy in Milton Keynes.
Elsewhere, the draw sees Premier League winner Luke Littler, who qualified as the second seed on the Pro Tour Order of Merit, take on Rob Cross in a rematch of the World Championship semi final earlier this year.
The unique event, where players must start and finish on double, takes place at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester for the fourth straight year from Monday 7 – Sunday 13 October 2024. It’s also only one of two events with the set play format, the other being the World Darts Championship.
Elsewhere, other standout first round ties include:
- Michael Smith and Gary Anderson locking horns once again, just like they did in the first round of the World Matchplay
- Six time champion Michael van Gerwen playing 2017 winner Daryl Gurney
- Nathan Aspinall taking on Ryan Searle
- Gian van Veen facing off against Ross Smith
Round One will be played across Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 October, with eight ties on each night. The full schedule will be released by the PDC in due course.
