Burness first man into Champions Week Final
Kevin Burness became the first player to progress to finals week in the Online Darts Live League phase 3.
Iron Man came through a highly competitive field that included all of the weekly winners from the last 4 weeks of action.
Carrying a 4 point lead at the top of the league table overnight, Burness secured another 4 wins today to take his tally to 20 points from his 15 matches.
Colin Osborne, a late replacement for Conan Whitehead (who had to withdraw due to being in close contact with someone who has Covid-19) was the man that ran the Northern Irishman closest. The wizard falling short by just 2 points (1 win).
Osborne will now have a second chance to qualify for Saturday nights finale. He’ll have to come through Group B that will include Fallon Sherrock and Martin Thomas, both who finished mid-table in Group A.
The last BDO World Champion Wayne Warren, and his compatriot, and former World Champion Mark Webster will complete group B.
Reigning MAD European Champion James Richardson entered Champions Week as one of the favourites for the title, but he will have to come through group C if he is to be in with a chance of picking up the £6,000 top prize.
Group C will also give a second opportunity to Arron Monk to progress, along with the introduction of Chas Barstow, Jamie Kelling, Jim Williams, and the 3rd Welsh former World Champion in the field, Richie Burnett.
