Humphries Wins In Extra Time

Luke Humphries survives a match dart to defeat Dirk van Duijvenbode 14-12.

Dirk flew out the blocks, hitting six perfect darts in leg two, before a 132 checkout in leg three. The big checkouts continued with The Dutchman taking out 147 to lead 4-2.

Cool Hand did fightback winning three of the next four to level the game up at five each.

Luke Humphries wins in extra time

It was Dirks time to take control once more winning four of the next five legs, moved within just two legs of victory.

That changed again once more with four out of five going the way of Luke leaving us at 10-10 and needing extra legs after, Dirk missed a dart to win the match.

Dirk recovered well with a big fish and three more holds followed, until Luke found a crucial break with an 88 checkout and sealed the victory with a huge roar.

Dolan Bowled Out By Heta

Michael Van Gerwen conquer Brendan Dolan was unable to follow that up, as he was on the receiving end of a hiding from Damon Heta who defeated him 11-1.

Damon Heta raced into a 5-0 lead at the break averaging 98 and Dolan missing darts in two of the legs.

Dolan got his only leg on the board after the break, before a 150 checkout in leg seven from Heta to retain control.

Heta scoring was just too much for Dolan who averaged just below 90, and Heta 121 checkout to make it 10-1 finally got the Blackpool crowd on side before sealing the victory with a 17 dart leg.

World Class Clayton

Jonny Clayton reeled in the big fish on his way to an 11-6 victory over Dimitri Van den Bergh.

Slow start in the opener with Jonny winning it in 17 darts but we didn’t have to wait long for the first big checkout from Jonny and it was the biggest of all, a 170 checkout in leg four to lead 3-1.

Dimitri fought back from the early deficit and won three of the next four legs to level up the game after eight legs however, Clayton won the next two to take the lead going into the second interval.

Clayton continued his fine scoring and with the scores at 8-5 to the Ferret we had another biggy, with The Ferret checking out a 156. This was quickly followed by another huge outshot, and this one was a 126 finishing on the bullseye.

Clayton sealed the victory with an 18 dart leg, the first and last leg were the only legs Clayton won in more than 15 darts and he finished on 101.9 average to book his place in the last eight.

Searle Ousts Wright

Ryan Searle is a World Matchplay Quarter Finalist for the first time with a 11-8 win over Peter Wright.

Heavy Metal lead after five legs, and a change of darts for Wright didn’t change is fortune losing the second to same the scoreline 3-2.

Searle looked in cruise control throughout, including a 107 checkout. Even though Peter Wright won eight legs the game was always in Ryan Searle hands and he put the final nail in the coffin with a 15 dart leg.
