Boyle Sports World Grand Prix: Day Four Preview

Day four of the Boyle Sports World Grand Prix is upon us, with night two of the second round. Seeds may have fallen but with that comes opportunity. We have spots in the quarter finals up for grabs tonight and an ‘easier’ route to the semis and final than most would have predicted.

So, what does Wednesday have in store for us at the Morningside Arena, Leicester…

Repeat or Revenge at the World Grand Prix

The match of the night is surely the Premier League Final Rematch between Jonny Clayton and Jose de Sousa. Clayton was victorious on that occasion in Milton Keynes, but can Jose get revenge this time around?

The Ferret made his way into the second round with a comfortable 2-0 win over Callan Rydz, reeling in the big fish along the way. While Jose defeated an underperforming Glen Durrant by the same scoreline.

First round standouts collide

Pushing the rematch all the way in the battle for match of the night is the enticing matchup between a resurgent Rob Cross and Krzysztof Ratajski.

Both players were in blazing form in round one, as Cross saw off Peter Wright 2-0 and Ratajski defeated Nathan Aspinall by a tighter 2-1, but recording an average in excess of 94 in doing so.

Whoever comes through this is going to have to play well, and if they can both continue the form of round one, it may steal the spoils as game of the night.

Elsewhere on day four

The night will be opened up by Ian White and Darius Labanauskas, with both players surely sensing the opportunity to go deep in the tournament.

Will White finally confirm the promise he has failed to show all too often on TV or will Lucky D kick on and send him packing?

The last game to mention, would certainly be game of the night if we were judging it based on this week’s interviews rather than the action on the boards.

The ever-opinionated Vincent van der Voort takes on a Danny Noppert who had plenty to say himself after defeating Michael van Gerwen in round one.
