Paddy Power £180,000 bonus pledge for a nine-darter at the World Championship

In a new initiative to assist Prostate Cancer UK, Paddy Power has promised a £180,000 bonus for each nine-darter scored at the 2024–25 World Darts Championship.

In addition to a massive £180,000 prize for each nine-darter, tournament sponsors Paddy Power will once again donate £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for every 180 hits in the sport’s main event. The money will be split between the charity, the player, and a lucky spectator at Ally Pally.

The campaign raised an incredible £1 million for Prostate Cancer UK last year, and this year’s total is anticipated to surpass that amount and raise crucial funds for the organization’s TRANSFORM trial, a groundbreaking study that will determine the most effective early prostate cancer diagnosis method and open the door for a nationwide screening programme.

In the previous year’s World Championship, 914 180s were landed, and Paddy Power completed the final contribution to the seven-figure total.

In the history of the PDC World Championship, nine-darters have been accomplished fourteen times. The most recent one was made by Michael Smith versus Michael van Gerwen in the 2022–2023 final, during the greatest leg.’

Paddy Power said: “We’re buzzing to bring The BIGGER 180 to this year’s Paddy Power World Darts Championship. Last year’s campaign was an absolute triumph, raising over £1 million and proving just how powerful darts can be in making a difference.

“This time, we’re stepping it up with a £180,000 bonus for every nine-darter – split between Prostate Cancer UK, the players, and the fans who make Ally Pally magic. It’s darts, it’s drama, and it’s saving lives – what more could you ask for?”

Laura Kerby, Chief Executive of Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to team up with Paddy Power again for The BIGGER 180. Last year’s campaign was a staggering success – raising an incredible £1 million, getting record numbers checking their risk and making a huge impact for men and their loved ones.

“With The BIGGER 180, we’re aiming to reach even more men right across the UK. And the funds we raise along the way will help us move one step closer to a future where all men are invited for regular, accurate tests – which could save thousands of lives.”

Why it matters when it comes to transforming prospects:

  •   1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. And your risk is even higher if you’re over 50, if you’re Black or if you have a family history of the disease.

Following the 914 180s that occurred last year, The Big 180 campaign raised £1 million to help Prostate Cancer UK’s vital risk awareness work. Paddy Power rounded up the final donation to reach the seven-figure total.

  •   Most men don’t have symptoms in the early stages and there’s currently no screening programme inviting men for regular tests. That’s why too many men are dying from prostate cancer – one every 45 minutes.
  •   But finding it early, when it’s easier to treat, is critical to saving lives.
