Day 4 of the 2024 World Grand Prix Darts will get underway later this evening. The final four matches of round two will end tonight before the business end of the tournament commences as the week progresses.

On Wednesday night Ryan Joyce, Rob Cross, Luke Humphries and Jonny Clayton booked their place into the final eight. Who will join them?

Gary Anderson vs Mike De Decker

Both players booked their place into the second round despite difficult draws. Gary Anderson recovered from one set down to defeat close friend Michael Smith in a last leg decider, whereas Mike De Decker edged out Damon Heta.

Anderson will likely go into this match as the favourite due to his scintillating form on the floor and due to past achievements. The Scotsman has yet to win the World Grand Prix and this opportunity presents a huge opportunity to add to his long list of accolades.

Despite everything points in his favour, De Decker shouldn’t be ruled out purely because of how he held his nerve to defeat Heta. The Belgian star won in the important last leg and averaged 92.01 – a performance that will be hard to stop if he can replicate it against the two-time PDC World Champion.

Gerwyn Price vs James Wade

The second match of the evening is between close friends Gerwyn Price and James Wade. Price held his nerve to defeat Danny Noppert in round one, whereas Wade looked content on the stage in defeating Peter Wright.

Both players have what it takes to win this tournament, with Price winning in 2020 and Wade doing the double in 2007 and 2010. Price is looking to win his first TV ranking major tournament since the 2022 Grand Slam but it is blatant he is rediscovering his love for the game.

The Welshman has been vocal about his changes of attitude, and a win tonight could see him go all the way. He has a tough ask against Wade, though, who always finds a way to win out of nowhere. The Aldershot-born star is coming back into form, so it should be a close contest.

Daryl Gurney vs Joe Cullen

Daryl Gurney stunned Michael van Gerwen in round one to whitewash the six-time Grand Prix champion 6-0 and 2-0 in sets. Joe Cullen raised his game to defeat Chris Dobey after losing the first set.

Both players have the opportunity to progress through, with Cullen looking to make it back-to-back Grand Prix semi-final appearances at the minimum. Both players looked comfortable in their matches and didn’t look like a potential defeat was on the cards.

The fast flowing duo will make it another entertaining affair, but Gurney always seems to go under the radar. The Northern Irishman dropped down the rankings and out of the top 16 but the two-time PDC major champion, including a former Grand Prix winner, is always capable as an outsider to win a TV tournament.

Dave Chisnall vs Dimitri Van den Bergh

Dave Chisnall and Dimitri Van den Bergh meet for the final match of round two, with both looking strong in yet another tough draw to decipher who could go through.

Van den Bergh loves the big stage and wants to add a second PDC major title to his tally in 2024 after winning the UK Open in March, but Chisnall is once again on song on the ProTour which could make it a really narrow affair.

The Belgian star has reached the quarter-finals once before in 2022, but Chisnall reaching two finals and two semi-finals indicates he can keep that longevity going into the latter stages. Chizzy will have a tough test due to his opponent averaging over 97 in his first round match.
