Humphries survives huge Greaves scare at UK Open
Luke Humphries came from 7-5 down to survive a huge scare against three time Lakeside champion Beau Greaves to move into round five of the 2025 UK Open.
Cool Hand, coming into the tournament having won the Premier League Darts in Exeter, knew he was in a battle with Beau and Arrow, who’d won three games in the afternoon to reach round four. However, he then won five legs on the spin to get into round five.
Luke Littler also came through a battle against two time World Champion Peter Wright, eventually winning in a last leg decider.
The big shock of the day at Butlin’s Minehead Resort came in the final match on stage two, as two time runner up Gerwyn Price was knocked out by Connor Scutt.

Humphries and Littler both battle to victory
After coming through Stefan Bellmont, Rhys Griffin and Mickey Mansell in the afternoon, Greaves’ reward was the world number one in the fourth round draw.
Greaves continued to show her class which sees her lead the Challenge and Development Tour Orders of Merit, as well as the Women’s Series. She started off the game with 126 and 124 checkouts to go 2-0 in front, before Humphries levelled at 5-5 heading into the final break.
Beau and Arrow then won the first two legs out of the interval, but her scoring deserted her at a crucial moment, allowing Cool Hand to fight back and win five on the spin. He will play Ryan Searle tomorrow afternoon, who 10-7 against Adam Hunt.
The game of the day involved two time World Champion Wright and the current World Champion Littler.
The Nuke produced an average of 108.69 while Wright averaged 101.79, in a match that went back and forth. The Nuke went 7-4 up, but Snakebite hit back to back ton plus finishes, eventually levelling the game at 7-7.
Littler went two clear again, and missed a dart at a bull to wrap up a 10-7 win, allowing Wright to win the next two legs and force a decider. Against the darts, Littler produced a 13 dart break, hitting tops to win 10-9. He faces Jermaine Wattimena in round five, who won 10-6 against Richie Edhouse in a rematch of the European Championship Final.
Price falls to the Sniper while MvG moves on
The only Premier League player to lose on day one was The Iceman, who initially fell 7-2 behind to Scutt in a packed Reds Bar. Price though fought back, initially to 7-6, before The Sniper went 9-6 in front.
The Welshman then produced finishes of 123 and 96 with Scutt on tops for the match, but in the final leg, Scutt eventually found double 10 for arguably the biggest win of his career. His reward is a fifth round tie v Damon Heta, who defeated Kim Huybrechts 10-2.

Michael van Gerwen though will continue the hunt for a fourth UK Open title tomorrow. The Green Machine went 3-1 down to fellow Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode, before he came back to lead 7-3 at the second interval.
However, Van Duijvenbode would not go quietly, reeling off four of the next five legs to cut the gap to 8-7. Two holds of throw from MvG though got him over the line, winning 10-8. He plays Robert Owen, who won 10-8 against George Killington.

Big names avoid upsets on day one
Jonny Clayton cruised through to round five with a comfortable 10-3 victory over 2018 champion Gary Anderson. He will play Alan Soutar in round five, following the Scot’s 10-7 win against Matt Campbell.
Nathan Aspinall will face former World Youth runner up Jurgen Van der Velde. Aspinall defeated Martin Lukeman 10-5, while Van der Velde ended his day with four wins, the last of which came against Adam Lipscombe 10-6.
Also into round five is Chris Dobey, who won 10-6 against Stephen Bunting in an all Premier League tie. He faces defending UK Open champion Dimitri Van den Bergh, who came through 10-6 against five time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld.

Josh Rock came through 10-5 against Justin Hood, and will play Ross Smith in round five, after he beat Jose De Sousa 10-7.
Danny Noppert cruised to a 10-2 victory over Daryl Gurney, and will play Rob Cross in round five, as Voltage defeated Thomas Lovely 10-4.
Finally, 2023 World Champion Michael Smith got a bit of revenge for losing to Kevin Doets at the World Championship in December, as he beat the Dutchman 10-6. Madars Razma awaits him tomorrow, following a 10-9 victory over Ricardo Pietreczko.
