In the opening round of the 2025 Winmau World Masters, Luke Humphries will face Joe Cullen, while Michael Smith and Dimitri Van den Bergh, who are not ranked, have also been given difficult opening assignments in Milton Keynes.
Next week, the redesigned Winmau World Masters will be held at Milton Keynes’ Arena MK. The preliminary rounds will begin on Wednesday, January 29, and the main event, which will be aired from Thursday, January 30 to Sunday, February 2, will follow.
The world’s top 16 players were seeded in the draw, which was held on Tuesday, and the top 24 players from the PDC Order of Merit automatically advance to the 32-player main event.
Next Wednesday’s preliminary rounds, which will include Tour Card Holders and representatives from the PDC’s associate tours, secondary tours, and Junior Darts Corporation, will produce the final eight players.
Former Premier League runner-up Cullen, who won The Masters in Milton Keynes in 2022, will be the opponent for world number one Humphries to begin his title challenge.
Luke Littler, the recently crowned World Champion, will face one of the eight qualifiers in his opening match in his first ranking tournament since his heroics at Alexandra Palace.
Along with world number four Rob Cross, qualifiers will also be faced by five-time Masters champion Michael van Gerwen and Stephen Bunting, who took home the Masters championship the previous year.
In a rematch of the 2022 UK Open final, Dutch number two Danny Noppert takes against 2023 World winner Smith, while Scottish legend Gary Anderson takes on the current UK Open winner Van den Bergh.

Chris Dobey, the 2023 champion, will face Ryan Searle for a spot in the round of 16, while 2021 Masters champion Jonny Clayton will face German number one Martin Schindler.
Australian number one Damon Heta will play former European champion Ross Smith, Nathan Aspinall will square off against Andrew Gilding in a matchup of previous UK Open champions, and ten-time TV title winner James Wade will square up against World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker in another exciting matchup.
After the Preliminary Rounds conclude on Wednesday, January 29, Dave Chisnall, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, and Josh Rock will also learn who their opponents are.
Thirty-two Group Winners from the round-robin group stage will join the 32 players seeded through to the Last 64 (players 25–56 on the PDC Order of Merit assuming all players enter).
32 players will be seeded as one per group for the group stage (players 57–88 on the PDC Order of Merit should all players enter). The remaining players will be assigned to the groups at random.
The Preliminary Rounds will start with the best of three sets throughout the competition, which will be played in a set format with each set being the best of three legs.
The eventual winner of the Winmau World Masters will get £100,000, while the runner-up will receive £50,000.
On Thursday, January 30, the top half of the draw will play their first round matches, while on Friday, January 31, the bottom half will play.
