Dom Taylor free to start the new season after a short ban for anti-doping
Dom Taylor will be free to resume his darting career as the new season begins this week with the preliminary rounds of the Winmau World Masters in Milton Keynes, which begin on Wednesday.
Taylor tested positive in late November after providing a positive sample for a banned drug. His case was heard in full before the DRA (Darts Regulatory Authority), and he admitted to violating the anti-doping laws.
Despite his admission of using the drug, he was first banned for two years because it was taken outside of competition. However, it lessens the ineligibility when it can be demonstrated that the substance does not improve performance. In this instance, if a substance abuse treatment program is finished, the three-month period is further lowered.

Because he only served a one-month ban, Taylor, who showed a lot of potential in his first season on the PDC Tour, will be allowed to continue. He will try to make up for lost time this week in Milton Keynes after missing the World Championship due to this late ban.
Additionally, he has a satisfactory conclusion before the start of the new ProTour season, which would have probably seen Beau Greaves join the tour right away if Taylor had been suspended or was pending suspension and unable to play. However, this week he will enter the last year of his Tour Card.
A statement from the DRA came to the following conclusion: “In the circumstances, the Committee determined that Mr Taylor will be subject to a one-month ban. This is conditional on his completion of an appropriate UKAD approved treatment program. Should Mr Taylor not complete this course within the next four months, then the ban shall be extended by an additional two months. Mr Taylor should also be liable for the costs of these proceedings”.
